What do you give your husband for his birthday when he’s got everything he needs? Bring him for a quick getaway to Las Vegas and throw him an awesome birthday, that’s what!
So for his birthday I whisked him away to Vegas and stayed at the most beautiful hotel ever! Then when we got back I threw him a party that was I hope, memorable to him.
Organizing a party and a trip simultaneously takes a lot of work and takes a toll on you, But with a few organizational skills, ideas from your daughter, and an awesome baker to make THE cake, well; everything fell into place.
1st step: Location
I tried to get a party room but with the number of family members, it didn’t work out. So we had it at home.
2nd step: Food
This is the most important factor on my list. You have to be able to prepare and cook the food prior arrival of your guests. You also need to request your family members to bring “a little” something to share with everyone. Appetizers are just the right stuff to bring. I didn’t allocate a specific person to bring one particular item, I wanted it to be stress-free. I don’t like when guests have to slave over the oven and take a thousand years to bring something to a party.
Our foodie items were all amazing. We had spaghetti with meatballs & spicy sausage, Lumpia, Chicken Parmesan, Pansit, Cheeseboard, shrimp cocktails, Sushi, Spinach dip and samosas, just to name a few.
3rd step: Decor
My go-to for decoration ideas is of course: Pinterest! You could mimic a million ideas from there, it’s totally awesome. Follow me @Beingtessiebelle on Pinterest.
4th step: Music
I relish in music at a gathering or party. It is a must-have! It is tres important!
Seriously, I think automatically how boring it is to step into a function sans MUSIC… Music sets the attitude of the party. Music gets you into the partying mood, it makes you socialize and when you hear your favorite song, how do you react? Happily, of course, you want to dance a bit, sway a bit, reminisce about the last time you heard that song and so on.
Without music, the aura and ambiance are dead. Dead boring.
As my daughter, son and I did the prep work, we created the playlist and it took only an hour to do so. Simple.
5th step: The Cake
My nieces are experts in this category and all I had to do was ask who their go-to Baker was for the cake, and they led me to Le Delice Fine Cakes.
Le Delice is located in Thornhill, ON
I dealt with Liron and she was very professional and straightforward. My daughter and I booked a cake tasting session and when we met her, she was very accommodating. She left us alone and gave us time to sample the variety of cakes they can make for me. My experience with Le Delice was a satisfying one. Satisfied with quality, presentation, easiness of payment (via Etransfer) we were still in Vegas, satisfied with their attention to detail and the readiness of picking up the Cake. Everything was executed perfectly. Thank you!
Final Thoughts
In my opinion and by observing our family that night, everyone had a good time. I said a little speech for him, and I hope he truly knows how much I appreciate him and how much I tried to make his milestone birthday, a memorable one. To the one who spoils me and our children, thank you for everything.
