So my daughter loves spaghetti. But the way I make it, isn’t the traditional spaghetti with traditional Ragu spaghetti sauce. Its quite different but hell delicious otherwise! Its salty but also has a hint of sweetness in it.
I’ve made a whole pot of this for our family parties at home, and it is always a hit!
Ingredients
Can of diced tomatoes with Italian seasoning
Can of whole plum tomatoes
Hot Italian Sausage
Lean Ground Beef
Onions
Garlic
Salt, Black Pepper, Pepper Flakes
Bread crumbs
Sugar
Spaghetti
Boil your choice of pasta, for ours, we like spaghetti.
Make meatballs, as large as you want them. Meatballs consist of salt/black pepper/pepper flakes/2 eggs/soya sauce and Italian bread crumbs. Mix it all together. Fry half way only.
Fry sausages, garlic and onions together. Fry half way only.
Once meatballs and sausages are half way cooked, add can of diced & whole tomatoes into your pot. Let simmer on medium heat for 30-40 minutes, stir at good intervals making sure liquid has not dissipated.
Once whole plum tomatoes have softened into pieces instead of whole, the sauce is ready. By the time the tomatoes are soft to almost mushy, the sausages & meatballs will also be fully cooked.
At the end, taste for accurate seasoning and add 1/2 a teaspoon of sugar. The addition of sugar depends on the size of sauce. The bigger the pot add more sugar. The idea of the sugar is to just have a hint of sweetness to it, not to overwhelm it. Remember this is still spaghetti and not dessert!
Enjoy!
