Remember when you were still in my life.
Your voice your smell, your silhouette by the window, as you stared down at me watching from our room, as I played outside.
I remembered the way you cared about every little story I had to tell, the sound of your laughter when we watched our favorite tv show, the warmth of your touch, as we walked hand in hand, on our way to church every Sunday.
Remember when I looked after you as you became sicker and weaker and I had to pretend to be strong, even though I wasn’t.
Remember when I was the only one with you, to help you dress, to help you bathe, to help you eat, to sit with you.
Remember when you told me that you were the only one who will ever love me, unconditionally.
I will always remember you because you were my mother. Because I too, loved you unconditionally.
Rest in peace my nanay, you will never be forgotten.
