The Good Son Restaurant – Review Feb 7th 2020

So I have been suffering from Vertigo for 4 weeks when finally I felt better and headed out to Shop at Donmills. A spot in Toronto located at Donmills/Lawrence where there are many shops and restaurants to visit and enjoy. It’s one of my favorite places to go to because it has everything all in one location. It even has a VIP theatre and plenty of parking. You should visit here.

I have been meaning to visit this restaurant and finally had the chance to do so.

Upon arrival, the gentleman at the front greeted us with a charming smile and quickly told us to sit wherever we wanted to, as it wasn’t busy and it was earlier in the day.

This place was beautiful and with its stunning pop of color and light fixtures and an attractive bar and seats by the window, it totally attracted me on the spot. Of course, I picked the window seat.

Our server promptly appeared and our drink came within seconds.

The ambiance was light and unhurried, relaxed and chilled. It was nice to finally come out of hiding from being sick and this place was just what I needed to bring me back to life. Everything was gorgeous and just glam! I love this cute place!

I ordered the Mushroom Pappardelle Pasta and my daughter ordered the Prosciutto Pizza, both were very tasty, but in my opinion, my pasta rocked!

I really liked this place that I asked the host to make me a reservation for Valentine’s Day! I even picked my table. She took my information as I continued to eat my meal and that was that.

Simple.

Great customer service!

Coming back for Valentine’s.

Keto Cheddar Biscuits – September 2019

I haven’t baked in a thousand years because when I last baked, my Banana bread turned out hard as a rock!

I was so embarrassed, thank God the children were still small that they probably didn’t know better!

So I’ve started this Keto diet that my girlfriend Marisa swears by.

She started Keto earlier this year and lost friggin 20+ pounds!

I told her I love my baked goods and she said I still could enjoy them, with less carbs!

If that isn’t inspiration, I don’t know what it is!

She gave me this recipe and I stared at it for a while and as the fear in me started to take hold, I pushed it right far back where it came from and said to myself, I’m hell going to try it!

Preparation: 10 minutes

Baking:  14min

Recipe:

1 1/2 cup almond flour

1 1/2 cup shredded cheese

1/4 cup of cream cheese

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup melted butter

3 eggs

Instructions

Add all ingredients to one bowl

You can also add other spices

I added Cayenne Pepper!

Mix well and pour into muffin cups and bake at 400 degrees for 12-14 mins

Sprinkle with extra cheese and bake for another 2 minutes. 

Thats it!

Ps. Next time I will add bits of Jalapeno peppers and ham!

Tapagria Spanish Tapas Restuarant Review – September 2019

My husband and I went here for our usual dinner date night.

It is located in Richmond Hill and right off the highway.

Parking was quite challenging as there were many other fine restaurants in the area. We circled about three times to finally find a spot.

Tapagria is a charming Spanish restaurant with an open concept layout and a relaxed and chill atmosphere.

We were greeted by the host who was very welcoming. We were seated promptly and within seconds, had our glasses of water and menu in hand.

I loved the space of this restaurant because it was laid out perfectly. Booths were large and accommodated just the two of us awesomely. I just love my elbow room! Tables were pretty with minimalist settings. Clear glasses, white plates, a single candle and cutlery wrapped in blue and white napkins. Simple and elegant.

The kitchen was open concept and I just love that kind of setting in which I can see the kitchen staff prepare meals. The bar was extensive and had a really nice feel and comfortable look to it.

Food

Food was amazing.

Tapas are shareable dishes and I was eager to order several dishes to sample and share with my hubby.

Clams & Chorizo.

A delicious and very delectable dish. The tomato sauce with minced ground beef was so yummy. 5/5 rating.

Spicy Patatas Bravas.

Cubed spicy potatoes which filled me up fast, so I didn’t eat too much of it in the beginning, in order to have more room for more dishes. It was spicy but really wasn’t one of my favorites. 3/5 rating.

Calamari Frito.

I love calamari! I didn’t give this a full 5 rating only because the batter was a little too crispy and had so much crunch to it. I don’t like crunch in my calamari. It was good though, 3.5/5 rating.

Mushroom Croquettas.

These were yummy as hell and I’m sure if my children were here, they would truly love it. Mushroom filled with creamy sauce. The sauce reminded me of Cream of Mushroom soup, encased in batter. Delicious! 5/5 rating.

Beef Empanadas.

Crispy light in batter and the beef was heavenly. Love it! 5/5 rating.

Bread. Just bare bread.

Staff

Staff was absolutely the best at what they do. Customer service in this restaurant was really outstanding for me.

The minute we entered and when we left for the evening, was just wonderful.

They were attentive, keen, engaging and cordial.

The best customer I have ever received in such a long time from a restaurant!

Our server was the best, it is unfortunate I didn’t get her name.

Final Thoughts

I loved this Spanish restaurant and will come back with my children in tow.

Even though it was on the pricey side, I would return to savor more items on their menu.

The ambiance was soothing with its Spanish playlist and easy-going banter that filled the room.

The decor, open concept, food, and the best customer service ever, will surely make this a repeat act for me.
